"Reset My _______"Sample
Reset My Selfishness
In Luke 3, we have a small intermission to the story of Jesus. The camera cuts to John the Baptist, Jesus’ cousin. Thirty years have passed, and John is giving a message from God to the people.
“Repent!” he says. It’s easy to write off John as a judgmental preacher, but the heart of his message is conviction. “Know that you need a Savior,” he’s saying, “and don’t let anything selfish hold you back from what God is about to launch onto the scene.”
If you have much, start giving freely. If you’re self-seeking, start serving others.
“Get ready,” John is saying, “because Jesus is about to bring it.”
As you read Luke 3 today, notice where John calls people out. Ask God to reset your selfishness and to show you how you’ve strayed from Him. It might not be comfortable, but coming to Jesus requires coming clean and admitting our dirt. In Him we are reset.
