Justice

DAY 22 OF 30

FORGET NOT ALL YOUR BENEFITS

Frederick Buechner says, ”If you break a good law, justice must be invoked not only for goodness' sake but for the good of your own soul.” When there is no justice the result is ultimately disorder and grief to each of us and everybody. So justice is itself not unmerciful. Vindication can be simple synonym for justice, deliverance, or vengeance. Both much deeper value vindications occur when a belief or an action has been condemned or when it is undervalued is ultimately shown to be true. This happens by the endorsement of some authority or by unfolding of some events. In Psalm 103:6 the implication is that the people of God, who are under oppression and who might be hopeful to be delivered like God's former act of deliverance will have their trust vindicated when God again acts. The verse 6 in Psalm 103 clearly tells us that the Lord provides vindication and justice to all who are oppressed. May we be spurred to strive for justice.

Dear God,
We thank you for your goodness and mercy. Please help us to reach out to those who are oppressed and suffer injustice. Help us stand for justice which brings joy to those who are suffering. - Amen

'The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.' - Martin Luther King, Jr

About this Plan

Justice

My inspiration for this 30 days Devotional is from prolonged theological discourses on Justice. My burning desire is to see that the Church becomes catalyst to stop violence against the poor. I am also grateful to Organizations who work relentlessly to secure Justice for the poor.
