DAY 3 OF 10

Abraham: Father of the Faith

Romans 4:16

So people get what God promised by having faith. This happens so that the promise can be a free gift.

Would you want to leave your current home and go somewhere else you do not know yet? This is what Abraham did. God told him to leave his homeland and go to a land that He would show him. God promised that He would bless Abraham. Abraham obeyed God because he had faith in God. He believed in God’s promises.

Abraham and Sarah were childless. At their old age, God promised them that they would have a son. It seemed impossible as they were both too old to have a baby. But Abraham believed and kept God’s promise in his heart. His faith was rewarded with the birth of his son, Isaac.

One day, God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his only son to Him. Although he didn’t understand God’s purpose, Abraham faithfully obeyed God. He had full faith in God. Abraham passed the test of obedience and faith! God provided a ram to replace Isaac. Because of his faith and obedience, God rewarded Abraham with abundant blessings for him and his descendants.

With all that Abraham did, it is obvious why he was called the father of the faith. Let us have the faith of Abraham as we are also the descendants of Abraham.

Prayer

Dear God, I want to learn to walk in faith daily. Amen.
