Love God Greatly: In the Beginningनमूना

Love God Greatly: In the Beginning

DAY 31 OF 42

The covenant God made with Noah, the promise that God would never again kill all living things on earth by a flood, was the first recorded covenant God made with His people. This is an unconditional covenant. No matter the actions of humanity, God will never again destroy all life on the earth through a flood.

As a reminder of this covenant, God created the rainbow. He placed it in the clouds to remind Himself of His promise. The rainbow is not a reminder for God because He might forget. The same way God remembered Noah in the ark and changed His action, God sees His rainbow and is reminded of the everlasting covenant He made with humanity.

The rainbow is also a reminder to us. Rainbows only form when there is rain, and usually, after a rainstorm. Rainbows remind us that no matter how bad the storm, God keeps His promises. God will never again destroy the earth with a flood, and He will also keep all of His other promises to us.

The rainbow serves as a symbol of God’s character. God is constant, never changing, and always faithful. He will never break His promises and He will always do what He says He will do. God’s faithfulness in the past is a promise of His faithfulness in the future. His rainbow confirms that all His promises are yes in Christ.

Prayer:

Lord God, thank You for Your rainbow. Thank You for providing a reminder of Your character and Your promises to us every time it rains. Help me to be confident in all Your promises, even those I find hard to believe today. I trust Your character and Your promises. Amen.
