ENOUGH: VALUE
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:16)
To walk through the slums of Karachi, Pakistan, is something you never forget. The smell of waste lingers in your memory long after you leave. Yet what also stays with you is the laughter of the children who play outside in the rubbish-strewn pathways. Their innocence untouched by the filth around them. To God they are precious beyond measure – and it’s His unfailing love for them that has inspired our Lenten appeal this year.
In the Psalms, King David writes that he was loved by God while still in the womb. God loved each one of us even before we were formed and there is no end to His love for us. “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” (1 John 4:16). If we abide in God, we can expect His love to be renewed to us every day. What an encouraging thought! Even when we find ourselves in the darkest place, we can know that through it all, the Father is still loving us.
Gracious Father, thank You that we are enough in Your eyes. Despite falling short of Your glory, You choose to make Your glory seen in us. Thank You that You will never leave us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

In God’s eyes, we are more than enough. It’s why He sent His son to reconcile us to Him. Though we may never grasp just how much He loves us, at Lent we can take time to reflect on all He did for us. It's time to reject the message that we aren’t enough, and instead remember Christ died for us, just as we are.
