[Scheduled Reading: 2 Samuel 16-24; 1 Kings 1-5]

King David’s BIG legacy continues through his son Solomon.

David must have taught his son to think BIG. And more importantly, to pray BIG (1 Kings 3).

In response to a BIG dream, a BIG offer, and a BIG ask, God gives Solomon wisdom and wealth in unprecedented proportions.

But something sad is about to happen in tomorrow’s read. A BIG fall.

Solomon turns away from God. As BIG as David’s story was, Solomon’s fall is equally devastating. Tragic.

After reaching its peak, Israel’s decline sets in and never fully recovers. The rest of the Old Testament is about Israel’s decline and desolation.

But God leaves a flickering light for a very small recovery. Just enough to keep His BIG covenant with King David… and to keep The Seed alive.
