DAY 10 OF 10

Topic: Sharing

What does it say?

Jesus shares the good news of the kingdom of heaven to everyone He interacts with. He asks His disciples to pray that more people would spend their lives sharing the gospel too.

What does it mean?

When Jesus saw people who did not know the good news – that God loved them so much that He sent Jesus to pay the penalty for their sins – He had compassion on them. Jesus knew that without this gospel message, these people were helpless and were bound to walk through life aimlessly and hopelessly. Jesus uses two analogies to describe those who do not know the gospel. He says they are like sheep without a shepherd, and they are like crops ready for harvesting. These analogies imply the need for shepherds and harvesters: people who are willing to share the hope they have in the good news of Jesus, the ultimate “good shepherd” who leads His followers into a relationship with God that lasts forever!

How should I respond?

Sharing the gospel can often feel overwhelming. We worry about what we will say or what people will think of us if we try to share our faith. It is a result of this apprehension that, as Jesus says, “the workers are few.” Not enough Christians share the good news that has saved their life with others. Jesus calls His followers to change the narrative through prayer! Pray for God to send more people out with His gospel message; and pray for God to send you to people to share His gospel message! If you’re not sure where to begin, simply start by telling others your own story. Consider how knowing Jesus has changed your life. Who can you share this incredible news with today?
