DAY 9 OF 10

Topic: Serving

What does it say?

Believers are called to serve others using the gifts God has given them.

What does it mean?

God has blessed His people abundantly. We who have received His gift of grace are meant to steward it well by sharing it with others. God’s grace is evident in that He gives the gift of salvation freely to all who believe in Him. God’s grace continues to be evident as He gives unique spiritual giftings to every individual who makes this faith decision. In this passage, Peter makes clear that different people have been gifted differently. However, no matter what gift we have been given, we are called to utilize it for the glory of God. Serving is an act of worship. When we use the gifts that God has given us to serve others, He is praised.

How should I respond?

First, evaluate your giftings. How has God blessed you? How has He wired you? What are you passionate about? What have you experienced that others may have not? We have each been given a unique set of experiences, passions, competencies, and resources. These giftings are the way God empowers and equips us serve others. Second, start now! Think of one way that you could engage in serving in your church or in your community. Remember that when we serve others, God is glorified.
