Homeschool Moms Teach the Psalms (Psalm 15-21)नमुना
Day 7
Psalm 21
Prayer or Thanksgiving?
Where Psalm 20 was a cry for deliverance, Psalm 21 is a cry of thanks for that deliverance. David remembers to do what we often forget: give thanks to God. We often spend time in prayer asking for something, and not enough in thanking God for what He has already done.
Are we thankful to be able to homeschool? Are we thankful for the freedoms we have? Are we thankful for the children being discipled by us and able to hear the Word of the Lord on a daily basis? Are we thankful for the lack of peer pressure and for the safety of their body and soul?
Giving thanks to God should not be momentary but continual, and for eternal things such as David understood, “For you make him most blessed forever; you make him glad with the joy of your presence.” Are we glad with the joy of God’s presence in our life? We can easily focus on the hard things in front of us instead of the pure joy of the very presence of God in our life.
Do we really believe that He is present? One of His names is Jehovah Shammah, The LORD is There. He is certainly with us, so let us give thanks for His immediate presence.
This Psalm also speaks to a coming King whose glory will be great when He completely vanquishes His enemies. Aren’t you thankful for that day? We can give thanks in advance for that final victory. David then ends this Psalm in worship and praise: “Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power.”
