Songs of Victory

I was sitting in the recliner rocking the baby to sleep (or at least attempting to) when I heard the rustling of tulle from the other room. The clickity-clack of tiny plastic heels shuffled across the wood floor toward me. I turned to see two proud little faces beaming in joy at their oversized princess dresses and layers of jewels. Tiny crowns adorned the tops of their blonde heads, and the now, not-sleeping baby giggled in delight at the sight of them. “Mommy, play us a song! We need to DANCE!” It’s a sentence we hear often in our home filled with girls. They love to turn on music and watch their dresses twirl beautifully around them. I love the part in Psalm 32:7 that states he “surrounds us with songs of victory”. The imagery in these words is beautiful. Just like the image in front of me of carefree, joyful dancing. Our homes become chaotic, overwhelming, and can even become a burden. But because of our salvation we have complete and total joy. Victory. We may fail miserably as moms each day, but He is Victorious. We may lose our temper with our husbands, but He is Victorious. We may serve cheetos and M&Ms for dinner (again…), but HE IS VICTORIOUS. “Songs of Joy and Victory are sung in the camps of the godly.” - Psalm 118:15. Our God is good, He’s bigger than any of our failures, and He took our short comings on at the cross. He overcame it all so that we can fill our home with songs of joy and victory! Even in our weakest moments, we can find joy in Him. No matter what is going wrong or how much you fail today, your home is a place where joy and victory can be shouted from the rooftops. Allow His sweet melody to sing into your heart. Let the baby skip a nap to enjoy a princess dance party (or a mighty warrior party with your little men!). Embrace the precious life and moments you’ve been given. REJOICE in the victory we have in Him!

Hiding Place Devotional

Aren't there times as a mom that you just want to hide...like in the pantry with a chocolate bar?  Hidden from the storms of life and the weight of responsibilities. Hidden from the noise. Hidden from the routine. Hidden from our to-do lists. Just hidden and alone with Christ where we can hear Him call us by name and let His songs of victory fill our ears.
