The Father's Kingdom

“your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.”

When Jesus teaches us to pray this, He's telling us to ask for God's powerful reign to spread everywhere - not just in our own lives, but in the whole world.

God's kingdom refers to His sovereign rule and reign. It's wherever He is in control, where His perfect will is being carried out. When we pray for His kingdom to come, we're asking for His authority and purposes to be established in every area of our lives and in the world around us.

So where do we start? We can begin by looking at our own lives. Are there any areas where we're still holding onto control, instead of letting God be the boss? Pray that His kingdom would take over your relationships, your job, your finances - every part of your life. Ask Him to get rid of anything that doesn't line up with what He wants.

But this prayer is about more than just you and me. We can also pray for God's kingdom to grow in our families, our communities, our country, and all around the globe. Think of specific people or places that need God's transforming power, and lift them up.

Remember, as followers of Jesus, we get to be part of expanding His kingdom here on earth. We're His ambassadors, with the awesome privilege of partnering with Him in His mission. When we pray this way, we're not just spectators - we're rolling up our sleeves and joining the work.

The details might look different for each of us, but the invitation is the same: Surrender to Jesus as the true King, and ask Him to use you to bring His perfect will "on earth as it is in heaven."

Ask God to reveal any areas of your life where you've held back from His rule. Pray for His kingdom to come in specific situations, relationships, or communities you care about. Ask Him to show you how you can be a part of expanding His kingdom in the world.
