Spiritual Disciplines for Deeper Intimacy With God and Spiritual Growthഉദാഹരണം
Meditate, Wait on God, Guidance, and the Will of God
These four disciplines must be part of the daily life of the Christian. Without these disciplines, we will often do things that cause ourselves and others great harm. It often leads to lives without lasting fruit.
Too many of us believe: "I can do it. I know how to do it." The reality is that older Christians will, more often than not, tell you that they often struggle to hear the voice of God. In the end, it is not so much about knowing the will of God than to know Him. This seems to be a small difference, but it makes all the difference!
When we meditate, we meditate on the word. It is an active process of discerning what God says from a passage, waiting in silence, and asking the Holy Spirit for guidance. Our biggest problem is our hurriedness and impatience.
Never move before you are sure what you have to do. It can happen in a few minutes. Sometimes, it will take days, months or years. George Müller, a famous man of God, known for his remarkable prayer life and his 50,000 written answers to prayer, said the following: I was daily in prayer, meditation, seeking guidance, asking God to show me His will. One day, after 11 years of prayer, God gave a clear answer. Only then did I move forward and buy the building about which I was praying.
Obedience: Prayerfully consider the following verse, and ask the Holy Spirit how to apply it in your life: But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).
