What Jesus Said About Forgivenessഉദാഹരണം
A few helpful quotes and Scriptures on forgiveness:
Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. (Romans 12:17).
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy (Matthew 5:7).
So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. (Matthew 5:23-24).
Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. (1 Peter 3:9).
Total forgiveness is a choice. It is not a feeling - at least at first - but an act of the will. It is the choice to tear up the record of wrongs we have been keeping. (RT Kendall)
The ultimate proof of total forgiveness takes place when we sincerely petition the Father to let those who have hurt us off the hook—even if they have hurt us and those close to us. (RT Kendall)
Detached forgiveness—there is a reduction in negative feelings toward the offender, but no reconciliation takes place. Limited forgiveness—there is a reduction in negative feelings toward the offender, and the relationship is partially restored, though there is a decrease in the emotional intensity of the relationship. Complete forgiveness is a total cessation of negative feelings toward the offender, and the connection is fully restored. (RT Kendall)
Nine of ten people I have had to forgive sincerely do not feel they have done anything wrong. It is up to me to forgive them from my heart – and then keep quiet about it.
Suggestion: RT Kendall wrote several outstanding books on the subject of forgiveness. You will certainly find it helpful to read at least the following four: 40 Days to Total Forgiveness, Total Forgiveness, Totally Forgiving God, and Totally Forgiving Yourself. You will also find a series of videos by Bruce Wilkinson, “70x7”, on YouTube. It is well worth watching.

Forgiveness is at the core of the gospel. Jesus came to die for our sins - so that we can be forgiven. God the Father expects the same from us: To forgive others. But it is not always easy for us to do it.
