Real Hope: Hope in the Life of Peter

Failure Doesn’t Disqualify You

One particular phrase captures my attention: ‘Go, tell his disciples and Peter’ – ‘and Peter’. I’ve often wondered, less than two days after Peter had denied that he even knew Jesus, if anyone besides Jesus knew what Peter had done. If not, these words hold profound significance. They convey a message of hope, unburdened by specifics: ‘Let Peter know I’ve risen.’ Jesus predicted Peter’s failure, then later said, ‘… when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren’ (Luke 22:32b NKJV). After each of his failures, Peter’s heart led him back to Christ.

Jesus recognizes that imperfection is intrinsic to our human nature. Just as He was willing to forgive and reinstate Peter for a greater purpose, He stands ready to do the same for each of us. Our spiritual failures, no matter how deep, represent opportunities to experience the Boundless Grace of God.

The message is clear: it’s better to be a faithful follower who occasionally stumbles than to abandon the path altogether. This is the uplifting news that the Risen Saviour extends to you today. Regardless of your past failures, come and lay them before Him.

Remember, failure need not mark the end; with Jesus, there’s always a chance for redemption. There’s hope for every heart seeking forgiveness and restoration. That’s the Good News!
