Into the Desert

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord Jesus, thank You for the example that You set for us in the wilderness by teaching us how to use Scripture properly. When Satan tried to misuse Scripture to hinder Your divine mission, You demonstrated that the Word of God does not contradict itself, and refuted him with the entirety of Scripture.

Please help us to be men and women who continually seek out Your truth in the Bible. While some will use Scripture as a weapon to suit their own desires (i.e., prosperity gospel, political means, etc.), enable us to be people who seek Your counsel in its entirety.

For just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it bud and sprout, and providing seed to sow and food to eat, so Your Word that proceeds from Your mouth will not return to You empty, but it will accomplish what You please, and it will prosper where You send it (Isaiah 55:10-11).

ONE QUESTION

Do I have a deep understanding of the Bible so I can discern when Scripture is being misused or taken out of context to support personal desires or agendas?
