King of All the Nation: A 3-Day Devotional From TEMITOPEഉദാഹരണം
Reign Forevermore
Eternity is the deep desire of every human. We’re all looking for things that will last forever. It’s no surprise that the Western World has a fixation on anti-aging supplements and plans. We want to live forever. But the reality is we won’t. Every human dies, every living thing dies, everything on earth dies. We all have a beginning and an ending. However, we have received a divine invitation to find purpose in eternity.
Eternity has purpose through relationship, and we were created for relationship. Sin fractured God’s design for perfect communion between the Creator and His creation, but He mended the divide through the cross of Jesus. Through Jesus, we are invited to be reconciled back to God and each other both today and for eternity (2 Corinthians 5:18).
Today, we can live in the light of eternity by living in right relationships with God and each other. This is easy to do with those we agree with. However, we are called to live in right relationship with both those we agree with and those we don’t. Those we like and those we don’t. Those who are friends and those who are enemies. This may require that we lay down our rights or “being right,” like Jesus did, but the call and invitation remain.
Eternity is touched when we live rightly with God and each other, and will be fully held when we’re together in Heaven. If this seems like a mountain to climb on your own, you’re right! Thank God for the gift of the Holy Spirit who helps to live rightly with God and each other. Our best human efforts for years could never accomplish what the Holy Spirit can in an instant. By surrendering to the Holy Spirit, every day, we make a way for the peace of God to reign in our hearts and move our hands in peace toward each other. Holy Spirit, have your way in us today, tomorrow and forevermore!
Lets pray the words of St. Francis of Assisi:
Make me an instrument of your peace Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
