We Shall See

The word "Gospel" comes from a Greek word "euangelion," which literally means "good news." "In the New Testament it refers to the announcement that Jesus has brought the reign of God to our world through His life, death, and resurrection from the dead" (Bible Project, Tim Mackie).

Have you ever thought about what "the reign of God" in this world could actually look like? I honestly can’t imagine that world—not when I sit and think about it. The thing is, I’m not sure we’re really meant to … in 1 Corinthians 13:12 it says, "For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known (NLT)."

We get glimpses of the power of the Gospel—moments when God’s kingdom intersects with this earth. We see healing, salvation, forgiveness and peace, but they are all glimpses. One day we’ll fully know and fully understand the significance of what Jesus did through His life, death, and resurrection. For now, this passage in Isaiah gives us an insight into what is to come. What a day that will be.

Real Hope: The Power of the Gospel

“The Gospel is no delicate matter. It is explosive, powerful, awesome and extremely effective at causing change. Simultaneously it is gentle and full of love, grace, and patience. Only God could create something that is somehow incredibly powerful in its simplicity. In its purest form it is after all quite uncomplicated.” (TNT – Robbie Parkin)
