My Identity in Christഉദാഹരണം
Hidden in Christ
Consider the things that are above and not those on earth, for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:2).
Are you assertive by nature? Do you like others to see what you possess and what you can do? Even followers of Jesus are no strangers to anything human... And there is nothing wrong with wanting to be seen. But if the appreciation of others determines how you feel about yourself, then you value that appreciation too much. Moreover, assertiveness is often a consequence of insecurity.
Those who follow Jesus need not be insecure about themselves. We should know that we are seen by God Himself in all we do. His/her life is hidden with Christ in God. In this context, this means that our life is completely safe (compare Psalm 27:5-6). Your identity, too, is safe in Christ. You don't have to put yourself out on social media to generate a sense of self-worth. You may take refuge with your Creator, Father and Saviour. He knows you through and through and has given you eternal life, which no one can ever take away from you.
Paul says: 'you have died'. Dying does not sound positive, but in this case it is. It means you are free from the old man (Colossians 3:5-10). You may put on the new man as a garment, the man who is constantly being renewed in the image of his Creator. With that garment you may boast!

Our identity is defined by personal attributes such as character, gender and colour of skin, but also by the groups that we belong to. You may ask yourself: how do I view myself? How do others see me? The most important question however is: How does God see me? Who am I in Christ?
