Servant Leadership
What does it mean to be a servant? Some would say being a servant means performing duties for others as an act of love, while others might say it’s more of a chore.
How do you see servanthood? Do you find acts of service a blessed opportunity or just another task on your to-do list?
Being a leader is not only defined by how you lead people but also by how you serve them. There is no perfect amount of favors you can do for someone or an ideal time to act. As a leader, you should challenge yourself daily to ask others what you can do for them and always be looking for chances to give back or pray for others.
In the book of John chapter 13, Jesus knelt before his disciples and cleansed their feet. He does this as a physical example for the disciples to follow. If Jesus, the greatest leader to ever live, can kneel before common men and serve them, there is no limit to what we can do for people in our lives today.
In a position of leadership, people will always look to you for guidance. If you lead with genuine kindness even when people are not watching, it will be evident that you are a servant leader.
Lighten the load of people beneath you, and they will one day return the favor.
Challenge: A leader will serve the ones serving them. Think of someone in your life that shows servant leadership.
