No Match for God

Whoever thought the spiritual realm was like a chess game between God and Satan was completely wrong. It has also been thought that there is some kind of tug-of-war between God and Satan, each pulling on opposite ends of a person. These misconceptions try to equate Satan’s ability to God’s infinite abilities. Rest assured that Satan is no match for God.

Throughout scripture and specifically in Revelation 20:1-6, we notice that God has complete control of Satan. Satan cannot make a move that God is not aware of. In this passage, we can see that Satan is locked away and shut down, just to be released in the future and then put away for good.

Conversely, Satan is crafty and deceptive toward God’s people. Satan is jealous of God and doesn’t want to go down alone. This is precisely why Jesus went to the cross.

It is commonly thought that Jesus defeated Satan at the cross. Though this is true, He did not defeat Satan for Himself but for us. When Jesus resurrected, He crushed Satan’s crafty plan to keep you away from a relationship with God. Therefore, let’s not believe there is a battle between God and Satan for the sake of our eternal lives. Instead, let us understand that Jesus defeated Satan at the cross so that we don’t have to. After all, that is where the battle really is.

Question: Why is Satan no match for God, and how does Satan battle with you?

Prayer: Praise God by acknowledging His mighty strength and sovereignty over all things, including Satan and all his deceptive schemes. Ask the Lord to equip you with everything you need to face Satan and thank Him for the victory you already have.
