Be Debt Free
A startup without any external funding may seem unreal, but God’s provision is all we need to make it a reality. He is the Jehovah Jireh. His grace and wisdom is sufficient to help run a business debt-free.
When we started our business 15 years ago, the future looked bleak. It was a struggle to survive in an industry that was on the decline. With clients falling behind in payments and with new business hard to come by, it was a challenge to stay afloat. But with God’s help, we were frugal in spending and sensible in saving. God reassured us through His Word in Jer 29:11, and He has been faithful all along. We never had to borrow money to run our business. God eventually used us to invest in social causes in the following years.
Debt can rob us of our peace, and God does not want His children to be in debt. He expects us to live within our means. All our money belongs to Him, and we are His stewards. We have to pay off what we owe to others. Zacchaeus led by example. He consciously agreed he had money that didn’t belong to him. When he immediately committed to repay four times the money he owed, Jesus gave him the certificate of salvation (Lk 19:1-10). Let not our debts be a hindrance to our salvation.
The God Almighty −Who so faithfully provided the Manna to the Israelites in the desert every day for 40 years (Deut 8:3, 4) − will He not take care of us? In fact, our Father knows what we need even before we ask Him (Mt 6:8). Jesus expects us to seek God first and not worry about our future as He promises to meet all our needs (funds, clients, intellect, manpower, and much more) as indicated in v 33.
Let us learn to save money for a rainy day to avoid running into debt. Let’s give to God and help the needy, and we will always have plenty.
Let no debt remain outstanding except the continuing debt to love one another. - Rom 13:8
Heavenly Father, I thank You for all the immense blessings You have showered upon me. Give me the wisdom to lead a debt free life. Amen

We have all heard that money talks, but the fact is that money simply walks away quietly, says Vijay. In this rousing study, he emphasizes that God does not want us to squander the money He has given us but to manage it well as His appointed stewards. Debt can rob us of our peace, and God does not want His children to be in debt. God wants us to be judicious in our spending habits rather than being impulsive. It doesn’t quite matter how big our income is; all that matters is how well we manage it!
