Living Unbroken: Reclaiming Your Life and Heart After Divorceഉദാഹരണം
God of Comfort
You may always wonder about and secretly wish for what could have been. I know I do.
No matter what stage you are in, even though you may not always be thinking about it, grief will still be there. It is for me.
It may show up in waves some days or when a memory, movie, the thought of a lost dream, or certain situation triggers it, or you may go days without thinking about it at all.
You may think you’re doing so much better but then suddenly find yourself grieving the missing plate at the dinner table, the empty seat beside you at a party, or the vacant side of the bed.
Grief is a painful reality of the end of a marriage no matter what season we are in, but it paves the way for us to move forward as believers and accept what has happened.
It empowers us to keep putting one foot in front of the other, believing that every step, no matter how small, is a step forward.
We will always have God by our side, regardless of what stage we are struggling through or how long we’ve been there. And that should bring comfort.
Second Corinthians 1:3–4 says, “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”
Paul was saying that not only is God fully capable of comforting us in our grief but that He is also a loving, kind, compassionate God. He is our source of comfort when we need it, and He will continue to hold us up as long as we need Him to.
With Him by our side, we are never alone on the journey of mending our hearts and restoring our lives. With grounded faith and a commitment to ourselves, we can be unbroken once and for all.
Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and before long, you’ll realize you really are making strides. My prayer is that these words have planted a seed of hope. Knowing someone else understands, you will be able to take the first step in your journey of healing, overcoming, and thriving.
We’re in this thing together, my friend. It’s going to get better from here.
Healing Step:
Start a “Provisions List” on a piece of paper, and place it somewhere you see frequently—in your journal, on your bathroom mirror, or on your refrigerator. Each time you witness God providing for you—spiritually, emotionally, physically, or financially—record it so you’ll never forget.
