Focusing on Five

In 2020, in-person human interactions decreased because of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. But God's love is not stopped when bad things happen. 1 John 4:11 reminds us that we are to love others as God loved us. God's love is unconditional. It is intentional. It was not selective. We need to do the same with friends and family who do not yet know the Lord. This video explains how to do that with an idea called, "Five in Focus."

Watch Connect Two

In the same way that Jesus had a small group that He spent extra time with, we too should focus on a small group. Who are your "Five in Focus?" Take the next five minutes to think of five people to intentionally pray for and look for in-roads to gospel sharing. Record these five names in a journal or in your phone. As the video reminds us, we are not focusing alone. Jesus provided the Holy Spirit to help us speak to friends and family about the Gospel. It is in Him that they will find true satisfaction and the "living water" (John 7:37-38).

  • Is "Five" the right number for you? If not, how many would be appropriate?
  • How will you keep track of your focus group and pray for them?

Listen | Connect | Help

Jesus loves everyone and did what He could for the masses. Throughout the Bible, we see how Jesus also focuses on individuals. He listened to their needs, made a connection to relevant truth, and then gave practical ways to help. This is a good application model for us to follow as we seek to make a difference in other people's lives. Listen. Connect. Help.
