Praying Through the Letters of John with Hillsong Creativeഉദാഹരണം
After you have completed today’s reading from the Bible, we encourage you to set aside a moment to listen along to the guide provided as we pray and allow God to speak to us through His Word.
3 John 5-6 says, “Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you. They have told the church about your love. Please send them on their way in a manner that honors God.”
In 3 John, the writer is giving a personal exhortation to practice hospitality, specifically hospitality towards ministers unknown to the reader, which is evidence of walking in the truth. Do you see this evidence of walking in truth in your own life? Are you impartial in your love towards others? The friend and the stranger? Or is this a struggle for you?
As we choose to love others, as an act of love and obedience to God, we honor Him. In this passage, the writer says to the reader that the church has been told all about his love for others. Could the same be said of you? Is your reputation one of showing love to those who haven’t earned it?
Do you want that to become your reputation? What would it take for that to become what people say of you? Think about that, and talk to God about that now.
The message of 1, 2, and 3 John is one of love. Take a moment now to choose to show love to God and love to others today and each day of your life.
“God, we thank You today for Your amazing love. We thank You that You loved us while we were still sinners a long way off and that Your love brought us close. Help us today and every day to love in the same manner. Those who are different. Those who are distant. Those who are not the same as us. Teach us to love with a love that is embracing, caring, and kind. We thank You today that we are alive because of Your love for us. And help us to live in that love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
