Heath Adamson: The Sacred Chase Devotional Day 6
“Your Sacred Chase Companion”
When we move from proximity to intimacy, from being almost yielded to completely authentic and vulnerable with God, paying attention to the subtle whisper of God’s Spirit creates the right internal environment for us to spiritually thrive. The Spirit enables and empowers us to do exactly what God has invited us to do and to become who God created us to be.
In other words, you can’t live a healthy Christian life apart from the Spirit. You won’t accept the invitation to go on the sacred chase apart from Him. In fact, you can’t even understand the Bible when you read it, repent of your sins, or make wise decisions without the Spirit of God. But the Spirit of God makes the supernatural natural.
I like to think of it this way: if on our sacred chase we envision being on a sailboat, then we must unfold our sail in the right direction. But all of our sailing skills mean nothing unless the wind of Heaven, the Spirit of God, catches our sail and drives us forward.
Too often we get used to living a partial version of the Christ-centered life, in our own strength, without ever realizing the Spirit’s power at work within us. With unlimited spiritual strength available, it is almost humorous to think about the little things that worry us, discourage us, and hold us back.
The truth is, we are never alone or isolated on our sacred chase. The Spirit is always with us, helping us.
And consider this, the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives is related to God’s father-heart. Of the eight thousand or so promises in Scripture, only one of them is called the promise of the Father and, according to Acts 1:5–8, there is power in that promise. The Spirit, who lives within us, cries out constantly, “Abba (literally, daddy), Father” (Gal. 4:6). We never have to struggle with the identity we need to embrace if we are to step into our spiritual inheritance.
The Spirit tells us twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred sixty-five and one-quarter days a year exactly who we are. What the Spirit cries out deep within us is exactly what Jesus heard on the banks of the River Jordan when the Spirit came upon Him like a dove: You are my beloved child, and I am well pleased with you.
Spend time in listening and prayer today. Invite the Holy Spirit to speak to you.

The sacred chase is the audacious pursuit of God and God’s reckless love for you. All of heaven desires to see your life soaked with the reality of God’s presence. As Heath Adamson reminds us in this week-long devotional, pursuing this is worth all of your efforts. The prize is the reality of Jesus in your life today.
