Thriving in Isolationഉദാഹരണം
STAY CONNECTED TO THE WORD OF GOD
Psalm 19 tells us about just some of the amazing benefits of being actively connected to the Bible. To just name a few, it refreshes us when we are weary, gives us wisdom when we don’t know what to do, and is worth more than gold! The problem is that many people don’t know how to get much out of their Bible time unless someone spoon feeds them. God wants all of his people to know how to rightly handle the Word of God (2 Timothy 2:15) so that they can hear his voice, obey it, and share it with others!
By utilizing some basic patterns and asking some basic questions each day, you can learn to have amazing times in God’s Word - even if you don’t have a teacher or author telling you what to get out of the passage. It is better to teach a person to fish than to fish for them. We want nothing more than to teach you how to spiritually self feed!
Here is a simple framework for reading, obeying, and sharing the Word. Try journaling with "SOAPS" today!
- Scripture: Summarize the Scripture in your own words. Don’t interpret it yet, just boil it down to a few summary sentences.
- Observation: Write down what this passage teaches about God (his character, the way he acts, what he loves, etc) and about people (our tendencies, what is expected of us, our needs, etc).
- Application: What would it look like to live this passage out today? Is there a sin to avoid, a promise to cling to, an example to follow, or a command to obey? Write down what you think God wants you to do.
- Prayer: Write down a prayer to God, telling him what you’ve learned and asking him to help you live this truth out today.
- Share: Take a moment and ask God who would benefit from hearing what you discovered today. Write down their name and share with that person!

Whether it is sickness, stage of life, or disaster that quarantines you to your home, isolation can be devastating. We are communal people made in the image of a communal God, but isolation can also be a gift. How do you spiritually grow and even thrive in isolation? How do you learn to spiritually self-feed?
