Riches Untold
When I was a small child, my parents had a work thing in Orlando, Florida and decided to take the whole family to Disney World. I was so young that I had only a vague idea what Disney World was. My parents had to work a lot, so they brought my grandmother to look after my brother and me.
We stayed at a really nice hotel. Which just means it had a pool. On the day we were going to go to the park, Grandma had my brother and I in the pool (we were going to Disney after lunch). When it was time to go, I was filled with a deep longing to stay in the pool.
For one thing, I had peed in there and felt this deep shame that everyone would know, and I’d have to change. It was mortifying. Plus, I really liked the pool. I just wanted to stay there.
Grandma tried to coax me, command me, and threaten my very existence, but I refused to leave the pool. I threw a tantrum and almost missed Disney World because of it.
We settle too quickly. Even in our shame, we feel as though where we are might just be the best we’re going to get. We don’t want to face the unknown, even if we are quite sure it is better.
Disney World was completely magical for me, and I’ve never forgotten the trip. I almost missed it! I almost missed an opportunity to experience greatness because I was frightened of my own suffering and wanted to settle for the tiny shadow of joy right in front of me.
God has so much in store for us. Riches untold. It takes a little courage on our part to follow Him through what might be a cold and embarrassing step out of the pool.
Please look for the 7th part of the plan, Yellow Balloons. In life, we all go through different seasons. Some are on the mountaintop, most in the plains and even in the valley. This series encourages us to choose a truer and godly perspective during any season of our lives.

Acknowledging what truly hurts is vitally important. The Apostle Peter worded it perfectly. He said trials would show that our faith is genuine. Our superpower is not in the physical realm. Our power lies in our ability to choose. God has so much in store for us. Riches untold. But it takes a little courage on our part to follow Him through and trust Him.
