Untangle Your Emotions

5 ДЕН ОД 5

“You’re Going to Be Okay”

Accepting your emotions, noticing them, being honest about them, and sharing them with others—these are all necessary parts of untangling your emotions, as we’ve seen in this week’s devotionals. Finally, as you’re growing in wholeheartedness and health, you’ll start bringing your feelings to Jesus before trying to make sense of them on your own.

When I have felt like my emotions were overtaking me, I have felt like I’ve been set adrift by God. I’ve felt set up by Him and then abandoned, and it’s stung worse than I can describe. But just as the disciples who were in the boat with Jesus one time when a storm erupted at sea needed to learn, those storms we face with God draw us into deeper intimacy with Him.

God didn’t set me adrift.

God didn’t abandon me.

God allowed the waves to pick up and the winds to blow so that I would bury my face in Him.

What God is after in your life and mine is relationship.

It’s proximity.

It’s intimacy.

It’s peace.

He wants you.

He wants me.

He wants us to find our relief in Him.

We’re okay, the disciples finally realized, after they took their fear to Jesus instead.

We’re okay. Everything will be just fine.

That outcome can be true for us too. God doesn’t ask us to stop being afraid or concerned or frustrated or angry or sad; He simply asks us to stick close to His side. As Psalm 91 says, “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge” (verse 4).

We really are under His wings, all tucked in, safe and sound. And in that place of refuge, we can feel anything we need to feel.

What do you need to take to God today, trusting that with Him you are safe and loved?
