Lent: The Journey of Letting Go

DAY 9 OF 40

Week 2: Trusting God’s Guidance in Uncertainty

Theme: Living in God’s Kingdom means embracing a love and faith that often defy our expectations, inviting us to sacrifice, trust, and grow in humility.

Focus Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.”

Connect: Have you ever been afraid to ask for something? Sometimes we hold back on asking God or speaking to God because we are afraid. This may come from a wrong idea about who God is or it could come from our past disappointments.

Engage: Jesus teaches in this passage that God is like a loving parent. God wants us to talk and ask for what we want. This passage doesn’t say that we will magically get all that we ask for but instead highlights that God will always give us what is beneficial for us. Similar to a parent giving a child vegetables when they asked for more candy, God’s response to us isn’t to be our genie granting our request. This type of surrender comes in trusting that God is caring for us and providing for us.

Apply: What would you like to ask God? Spend some time reflecting on questions or requests that you have for God. Trust that God, as a loving parent, wants to hear your hopes, questions, and desires.

About this Plan

Lent: The Journey of Letting Go

Lent begins with a call to release control and embrace surrender. By letting go of the burdens we carry, we create space for God’s grace to bring renewal and transformation. Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
