Maybe you’ve been where Esther was. The story of your life didn’t seem to be making much sense—at least not to you. You weren’t where you thought you’d be, but you had adjusted and made the best of it. And then, one day, you realize that you are in precisely the right place to make a wonderful and lasting difference in the world. In that moment, you know God has placed you right where He wants you. The only thing to do is act.
Esther’s cousin Mordecai was right. Had Esther ignored his advice and chosen not to do the right thing—the brave thing—God would have saved His people another way. There’s no stopping His good plans, no matter how stubborn or rebellious we are. But if we fail to do the right thing when the opportunity comes our way, we risk losing God’s blessings. We risk missing out on the joy that comes from walking in God’s perfect will for our lives. Esther risked her life by appearing before the king without permission, but God rewarded her faithfulness, and she is forever recorded in Scripture as a hero of God’s people. Who knows what God has in store for you if only you will follow His leading? He has chosen for you to live at this very point in time to do things only you can do. (See Ephesians 2:10.) Take heart, trust Him, you were born for such a time as this.

About this Plan
History tells many stories of drama regarding kings and queens. This governmental system of power and our fascination with it has existed throughout history—even in Biblical times. In this devotional, we’re going to take a closer look at some of the reigns of the kings who ruled over God’s people and what we can learn from the lives and reigns of the people who led God’s people over the centuries.
