The Life of Davidಮಾದರಿ
Day 19: 2 Sam. 7-8 x Julitza Lopez, Marketing + Comms Project Manager at UPPERROOM
In 2 Samuel 7, we witness a conversation between King David and God, one that reveals not only the heart of the king but also the steadfast faithfulness of our Creator. While living in his palace, David desired to build a house for the Lord (Psalm 132:2). God's response to David extends beyond Solomon's construction of the physical temple in Jerusalem. It points to the Messiah, Jesus Christ, who fulfills the promise of the ultimate King reigning on an everlasting throne.
This chapter uncovers God's desire to establish a covenant with David, promising to establish David's throne forever (v. 16). This covenant highlights God's unwavering commitment to His divine plan, ultimately leading to the promised Messiah, Jesus, through David's lineage.
We often have plans and desires in life, just as David longed to build the Lord a resting place. However, there are moments when God reveals new things to guide us towards the promises He has spoken over our lives. Sometimes, we are called to surrender our ambitions, desires, and dreams to God's will, even when it doesn't make sense. But let me tell you, as we yield to His will and continue to say yes to His plans, we realize that HE IS ALL THAT MATTERS.
Nothing else.
If we have Him, then we have everything.
This surrender isn't a sign of weakness but a display of our trust in His wisdom and love. Abba loves you, and His plans for you surpass your understanding. Just consider how God utilized David as an instrument to bring His Son into the world.
So today, I encourage you to ask Him, "What is an area of my life I need to surrender to Your will?"
Prayer: Lord, help me approach each day with a heart surrendered to Your will, trusting the promises You have spoken over my life. Thank You for being a promise maker and a promise keeper. You tend to my heart and know how to align it with Your desires. Help me remember Your faithfulness, and may my heart be like David's, devoted to You.

About this Plan
“The Life of David” is an in-depth study through 1-2 Samuel. Together, we will look at how David stewarded his heart through the complexities and challenges he faced. This month-long study will bring biblical context to why we do what we do as a community: ministering to the Lord and establishing a resting place for Him.
