Daily Prayers for Grieving Hearts: A 21-Day Plan for Comfort on the Road to Recoveryಮಾದರಿ
JOY IN THE BROKENNESS
I speak these things in the world so that they may have My joy completed in them. JOHN 17:13
Can there be joy in the core of a broken heart? The thought seems to contradict our natural way of thinking, but when placed in the supernatural realm of our Lord, He says there can be. That’s because, when facing the darkest hour of His life, Jesus made clear that we are His joy—that means you are His joy. And His love for you is so great, His joy wouldn’t be complete until He knew you could have His as your own. Nothing can stop His infusion of joy from pressing through to your heart, no matter what is happening around you. And when you let His joy in, you can become one with the one true Source of life. So, if you are in a desperate state of having lost your joy, you don’t need to work to find it. Simply claim the joy that is yours through Christ. He is ready to give it in abundance because He loves you.
Lord, sometimes Your love is beyond comprehension. To know You are with me and that You care for me the way You do is a blessing and a relief. Because of this, you’d think my heart wouldn’t be so heavy, yet it is. I sincerely need help with experiencing joy. Will you please give me Yours? Please lift my heart as only You can and help me to rest in Your presence. I want to go through this day glorifying You above and beyond whatever I face, and I know I can, as long as I have Your joy.
ALL GLORY AND HONOR TO YOU. AMEN.

About this Plan
Grief has many phases, and some phases make it difficult for us to find the words or motivation to pray. In the moments when we need God the most but can’t seem to connect with Him, this 21-day reading plan can give us language to bridge the gap. It helps you remember that God is close to the brokenhearted, deeply attentive to your pain, and capable of healing and restoring all of us. Each day, read a short message about a promise from God, find a corresponding Scripture, and let the daily prayer guide your time with the Lord.
