Firm Foundations
In 2008 the world was rocked by the GFC, the Global Financial Crisis.
During that time, many lives were completely turned upside-down as people lost their jobs, their homes and for some, their entire life savings. I can’t imagine the uncertainty that these people felt when they saw what they thought to be rock solid, completely disappear.
What we can learn from this tragedy is that no matter how secure something looks, there is actually nothing on this earth that is truly rock solid.
That means that if we are building our lives on relationships, social status, good health, job security, self-belief, or anything else that this world can give us, then we are building our lives on an unstable structure because at any point, those things could disappear.
This information could cause us to be fearful of what the future might hold for each of us. Thankfully, this is where the Word of God steps in to give us a confidence that is out of this world.
Our God is The Rock. He is immovable. He is unshakable. Our God is not swayed by the opinions of man and therefore can never be corrupted. He gives courage to those who fear. He gives strength to those who are weak. There is nothing that can stand against Him. Our God is The Rock!
If you want to live life with a confidence that is eternal, then make the decision to build every part of your life on The Rock that is our God. Matt 7:24-25 tells us that we achieve this by listening to what Jesus taught and obeying Him. When we live this way, we discover that even though we can’t predict what tomorrow holds, we can still be confident that The Rock will not be shaken If we are standing on The Rock, then neither will we.
