Faith becomes visible in your life

“For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love” (2 Peter 1:5-7).

Peter wrote a letter to all who believe in Jesus Christ. He wanted to teach them more about God so that they might experience even more grace and peace in their lives.

Peter begins this letter with the great and precious promises of God. God wants to deliver us humans from “the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” Instead, we may become “partakers of the divine nature”. This is a privilege, but it also requires commitment. The knowledge we have about God must become fruitful in our lives. It must be reflected in our attitude and actions.

James addresses the same theme. He says that faith is meaningless if you don't act on it. If faith does not actually prove itself, it is dead.

So developing virtue, knowledge, perseverance, and so on is not an additional requirement on Christians over and above the need to believe in the Lord Jesus. “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness,” Peter assures us. The virtues mentioned above are part of “life and godliness.” If you come to faith and live with God, you will be transformed by Him. When you live in the light, you no longer want to cling to darkness.
