Day 21: Boldly Stepping into God’s Opportunity
Focus Scripture:
“Then Elijah said to the people, ‘I, even I only, am left a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are 450 men. Let two bulls be given us, and let them choose one bull for themselves and cut it in pieces and lay it on the wood, but put no fire to it. And I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood and put no fire to it. And you call upon the name of your god, and I will call upon the name of the Lord, and the God who answers by fire, he is God.’” – 1 Kings 18:22-24
What happens when you put everything on the line, daring God to show up in a way only He can? Elijah does just that. With 450 prophets of Baal surrounding him, he challenges the people of Israel and the false prophets to a showdown. The test is simple yet dramatic: each will prepare a sacrifice, but neither will light the fire. The God who answers by fire will be the true God. Elijah isn't afraid to stand alone, because his confidence was set on the God who answers powerfully when His name is called.
Elijah's faith wasn’t in the odds but in the power of the Almighty. This moment wasn’t about ego or even about winning the challenge. Instead, it was about revealing the truth that the name of God alone has the power.
When we face our own trials, we may feel like Elijah—outnumbered, overwhelmed, and standing firm in the truth that only God can deliver us. Like Elijah, we are called to trust that when we call on the God who answers by fire, He will move mightily, revealing His greatness in ways that leave no room for doubt.
Reflection Prompt:
- Where is God calling you to step out boldly in faith?
- What opportunities are you sensing that require you to act with courage and trust in His provision?
Call to Action:
Take a bold step today in faith, trusting that God is with you. If there’s an opportunity where you need to take a stand for God’s order, do it with the confidence that He is working through you.
