The Holy Spirit – Jesus’ Partner

DAY 3 OF 6

The Holy Spirit – Jesus’ Partner

BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT

MAIN IDEAS

• The work of JESUS is under the anointing of the HOLY SPIRIT. Healing the demon-possessed blind mute is a prophetic sign of the Messiah.

• While ordinary people observe the fulfillment of prophecy In Jesus, the religious authorities prefer to attribute to Satan all the work of the HOLY SPIRIT through JESUS to justify their intention to kill Him.

• JESUS confronts their blasphemy and tells them that without the HOLY SPIRIT, they can never be forgiven.

Hundreds of years earlier, the prophet Isaiah had foretold that the Messiah would have a mission under the anointing of the HOLY SPIRIT, and thus He would bring sight to the blind, the gift of speech to the mute, and release for those who the devil possessed. When JESUS heals the possessed blind mute, the crowds identify it as fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy and proclaiming that He is the Messiah, the Son of David. The religious authorities admit the fact that the healed man was also demon-possessed, but they claim that Satan, not the HOLY SPIRIT, was responsible for this healing. Thus, they attempt to justify their plot to kill him. To intentionally attribute the work of the HOLY SPIRIT to Satan is the same as to blaspheme or mock the HOLY SPIRIT. This outrageous sin is unforgivable because he who blasphemes the HOLY SPIRIT turns his back on Him - the only one who can convince a man that he has sinned and lead him to repentance. Yes, certainly JESUS paid the price of our sins by sacrificing Himself in our place, but without the HOLY SPIRIT, man alone with his faith cannot achieve salvation. Thus, JESUS truly says that the HOLY SPIRIT partners with the FATHER and JESUS in forgiving and saving sinful man. Christians today have such a limited impact on the world because their lives do not match their words. Our daily actions prove whether we only have a religious affiliation or a living relationship with God through JESUS CHRIST and the HOLY SPIRIT. It is not too late to be obedient and to submit to the HOLY SPIRIT, who will lead you to restore this relationship with the Heavenly Father, change your heart, and empower you to truly live for the KINGDOM.
