The Holy Spirit – Jesus’ Partner

DAY 1 OF 6

The Holy Spirit – Jesus’ Partner

JESUS INTRODUCES THE HOLY SPIRIT

MAIN IDEAS

• Just as John the Baptist introduced JESUS, JESUS now introduces the HOLY SPIRIT, which will be sent from heaven after JESUS’ ascension.

• This announcement was made through the power of the HOLY SPIRIT and profoundly affected those present.

• The coming of the HOLY SPIRIT to Earth will take place after the ascension of JESUS into heaven, and He will continue JESUS’ work on earth; He will influence the living water that will bring eternal life into the hearts of men through His divine influence.

Knowing His time and mission on earth are limited, JESUS now introduces the HOLY SPIRIT. He makes this introduction under the anointing and authority of the HOLY SPIRIT in such a powerful manner that a profound spiritual effect seizes all those present. Speaking of the HOLY SPIRIT, JESUS says that only those in whose hearts a spiritual thirst is born shall be nourished by this anointing of the SPIRIT. It will also be a proactive process of receiving the HOLY SPIRIT, similar to drinking water. The Holy Spirit transforms the life of the Born-Again person and leads the changed soul so that, at a certain point, it fully changes the heart of man and frees it from all that is “of this earth,” completely changing his life. The presence of the HOLY SPIRIT in the life of the born-again believer produces outpourings of blessings over the lives of other people who also will be led to salvation and eternal life. This coming of the HOLY SPIRIT will occur after the glorification of JESUS, after He completes His saving work, resurrection, and ascension into heaven. His promise was fulfilled at Pentecost, fifty days after the ascension of JESUS into heaven.
The Apostle Peter is a telling example of the difference the HOLY SPIRIT makes in a man’s life. While at the crucifixion of JESUS, Peter denied Him; after being filled with the HOLY SPIRIT at PENTECOST, Peter bravely proclaimed the Gospel before a crowd. This shows that being filled with the HOLY SPIRIT eliminates all fear, and authority is given to those filled with the Spirit.
