Grace of God: 5-Day Devotional Plan

DAY 4 OF 5

Grace is a gift. It’s not the result of our efforts of goodness and accomplishments but the freely released benefits of a gracious God. We can’t earn it or be approved for it. It is an astounding act that God demonstrated through Jesus Christ.

The moment we think we deserve it, entitlement and pride rear their heads. Jesus did something that we could never do: save us from ourselves. The vast chasm between what we truly deserve and receive should astound us.

Grace should shock us into total abandon for the love of God. We love him because of his love for us first. We surrender to Him because he surrendered his life for us first. We serve him because He came as a servant to serve humanity first. His act of grace leads us to act as grace-filled and grace-empowered people.

As followers of Christ, we are to emulate His example. As beneficiaries of grace, we follow because we have been graced with astounding kindness. As graced, redeemed people, we follow because we desire that others find the same hope and freedom we have. Grace is a gift beyond measure.

Every moment we face can be laced with grace if we turn it over to the hands of our Gracious God. He can redeem any circumstances and use them for our benefit if we are willing to hand them over to Him.
