DAY 9 OF 25

In battle, one of the best forms of protection you can have is some sort of a shield. A shield is any sort of barrier where you’re able to hide vulnerable parts of your body to keep yourself as safe as possible. History tells us that shields were made from almost anything—metal, leather, and sometimes even scraps of wood. To go into a battle without any sort of shield seems a bit like asking to get hurt. Today, going out into the world without any sort of armor or shield feels just as dangerous. And God never planned to send His children out without any sort of protection. Instead, we’ve been given the gift of the Scriptures to provide words of comfort, encouragement, and support just when we need them the most.

But a shield can only work if you put it into action. Is there a particular verse that you find yourself turning to again and again when you feel like everything is becoming a bit too much? Write that verse down on a notecard, and be sure to carry it around with you this week. If you can’t think of a verse, reach out to a mentor or trusted friend in your life and ask if they have a verse they would want to share with you. Keep in mind that it’s not just a verse that is changing the tone of your life, it is a truth from the King of the universe about Him or His world. Be sure to arm yourself with His truth. It is the best protection available.

About this Plan

Everyday

When it comes to our relationship with God, habits can take on a huge role. They can work to help us stay consistently connected to Him, or become distractions that keep our minds focused on what we want and not on what God wants for our lives. We’ll take a look at how being consistent with our spiritual habits helps us maintain a close relationship with our Savior.
