DAY 15 OF 15

What you focus on in life matters. That’s what perspective is all about! Wherever your focus is, that’s what will shape your perspective too. So, if you focus on your troubles, your mind will stay only on your troubles. That can make them seem bigger, more overwhelming, and harder to overcome. And that will influence your perspective not only on your troubles but on God too. So what do we do? How do we get that major perspective change we need to press on? We shift our focus! When you focus on something else—something bigger than your troubles—you’ll find your mind has less space to give to your troubles.

Here, Paul reminded us the best place to put our focus is on the things of God. When we keep our minds there, we’ll find our perspective on both the good and the bad times in life is shaped by the truth of who God is and how much God loves us. Is there something that’s troubling you right now? The next time you think about it, stop and look up. Let it represent shifting your focus away from your troubles and onto the God who is big enough to handle them. Let it be a physical act of changing your perspective.

Day 14

About this Plan

Press On

When we face struggles, we’re told to persevere. It’s actually easier said than done. Pressing on and persevering under the weight of hard times in life is not so simple. We have to learn how to press on just the way God calls us to. In this devotional, we’ll look at what it really means to follow God’s call to press on in our lives and in our faith.
