Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 10

DAY 11 OF 23

Many call themselves teachers out there. A lot of knowledge is available to tell us what to do. It is like sitting in the stands in a stadium and shouting to the players what they should and shouldn’t do. It is a different story when you find yourself on the field, ball in hand and playing the game from a partaker’s point of view and not from a bystander’s point of view.

From today’s verse of the day, we learn from Paul encouraging Timothy to be on the field and not on the stands. Paul teaches Timothy five concepts that will direct Timothy’s life.

1. Words – the way we represent Christ is foremost seen in our word choices. What we speak says a lot about how we think about God and others. Let our words be of life and encouragement and not of belittling others.

2. Demeanour – the way we act in different situations will tell a lot about our attitude and our worldview. It will showcase who we really are and who and what we really represent.

3. Love – it is a love that is different from the love reflected by the world around us. It is defined by giving, not getting.

4. Faith – it is the faith that Jesus had that was built on the love of the Father towards His Son. A faith based on who God is.

5. Integrity – it is a lifestyle that showcases Christ every day of the week in all facets of our lives. Who we are on Sundays and Mondays are the same.

What will my life be like if I see my life as my way of teaching others?

How will the direction of my life be different when I know that people follow my example rather than my words?

How will the demonstration of words, demeanour, love, faith and integrity impact the world around me?
