Refresh: 21 Days of Prayer & FastingSample
Philippians 4:19 (NIRV) My God will meet all your needs. He will meet them in keeping with his wonderful riches. These riches come to you because you belong to Christ Jesus.
Perhaps you’ve heard or read about the late Christian Evangelist, George Müller (1805-1898). As a young man, he was a known thief, liar, gambler, and drunkard. By the age of ten, he was stealing government money from his father. While his mother was dying, George, at fourteen years of age, had an alcohol addiction.
Then came the day that he received Jesus as his Lord and Savior, he started envisioning his life differently and then, everything changed. He became a man of faith, purpose, compassion, determination, and love.
He moved to Bristol, England, where he discovered hundreds of orphans abandoned and living in pitiful conditions in the back alleys of the city. That’s when faith arose in his heart, and he knew he was destined to do something to impact the lives of those children.
As a Christian, he pictured himself as part of the solution, and no longer the problem. He envisioned himself establishing orphanages for the children, providing them with a first-class education, teaching them how to live by faith, and training them in the things of God.
One of the greatest miracles concerning this precious man was that he never made requests for financial support, nor did he ever go into debt, even though the homes he established to care for these street kids cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in the 1800s. He believed “God would supply his every need.” And God did.
Müller tapped into the supernatural power of God that comes from believing Him and envisioning what you desire. As you embrace and internalize these principles, you too will see the same results that Müller had.
Reflection: In the same way that Müller saw a problem and responded to it with the power of God, could there be a problem, or issue that’s been staring at you in the face, that the Father has called you to solve? Müller’s life refreshed an innumerable amount of people; the question is whose lives are you called to refresh?
