The Beginning of Wisdom

Solomon discovered that true knowledge and wisdom come from the reverence of the Lord. We respect or revere the Lord when we understand who He is and how He created everything that exists just by His word. Isn’t that amazing? There is nothing He doesn’t know.

When we are young, we think we know things, and sometimes we answer our parents with an “I know, I know.” But we don’t know everything. Solomon says that only fools look down on wisdom.

Have you ever felt like you knew something already, only to discover that you weren’t aware of a whole other side to that situation? Like driving, for example. I’m sure you don’t drive yet, but even if you think you know everything there is to it, you still have to listen to experienced drivers to teach you the ways of the road. Only fools would say, “I know, I know.”

Do you know the Lord yet? Have you asked Him to come into your life and take the driver’s seat? If so, that’s great! You’ve started a lifetime journey of knowing God and learning from His wisdom. If not, would you like to know Him? You can invite Him to come into your heart today.

(Parents/adults – talk to your child about how you first came to know Jesus. Why did you decide to invite Him into your life? Pray with your child if they are ready to know Jesus today).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I don’t want to be a fool. I want to listen to Your wisdom and become wiser. In Jesus’ name, amen.
