Quick Question: Why Do Bad Things Happen?

DAY 8 OF 10

Sometimes, we can be fooled into thinking we have no control over our thoughts.  Worries, fears, and challenges can consume our thoughts and crowd out the good.

This message reminds us that we can indeed control what we think about.

While we can’t stop bad thoughts from popping into our heads, we can control what we do when those thoughts creep in.  We can choose to not allow ourselves to keep thinking about those things.  Instead, think about things that are true, admirable, and worthy of praise.  Instead of focusing on the negative things, turn to prayer.  Even when we struggle to find good, we can always choose to thank God for Jesus and what he did for us.  He is always worthy of our praise.

Challenge: Today, we challenge you to make a list of things you can think about when you are trying to focus your thoughts on praise-worthy things.  That list might include the people, places, and things in your life that matter to you.  Also, be sure to include things that remind you of what God has done in your life.  Continue to add to this list as time goes by and refer to it whenever you need to change your thoughts.
