DAY 1 OF 11

 A Man After God’s Heart

Acts 13:22

I have found David son of Jesse, a man after My own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.

David was getting older and as per God’s command, he anointed Solomon to be the next king. Before he died, David gave Solomon some commands and advice. He instructed Solomon to obey God’s commandments and walk in God’s ways faithfully.

David was known as the man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14). The Bible mentions David's successes as well as his failures. He was not perfect. However, no matter how many times he failed God, David’s heart always inclined towards God. He had a deep desire to obey God and to do everything God wanted him to do. He pursued God. He was a man after God’s own heart because he had an absolute faith in God.

When he fell into sins, he quickly repented instead of finding excuses. When he was facing his punishment, he worshipped God instead of grumbling. When he was in distress, he cried out to God with praises instead of cursing God.

David’s legacy is so simple yet powerful. It is all about obeying God’s heart. May David’s legacy become your daily life reminder.

Prayer

Dear God, may my heart seek You in every season of my life and help me to be aligned always with Your heart.
