Running From The Heart

DAY 5 OF 31

The Hope of Seeing Beyond

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

Rebecca wrote in her journal, “God showed me Isaiah 40:28-31 on the day my 17-year-old brother Alex took his life, in 2005.”

She was so brave when she spoke at her brother’s memorial service and, although faint with sorrow, I remember her sweet voice reading Isaiah 40:28-31. After the service, there was a profound moment, that gave me a glimmer of hope in the Lord, when several people shared they had seen an eagle circling the church.

In her journals, I found this letter that didn’t get sent but, in a way it has, because you are kindly reading a part of it!

“I feel Isaiah 40:28-31 are from God to you, and offer you great HOPE. Hope is your firm assurance regarding things in your life that are unclear and unknown. No matter what you’re facing or have faced, put your hope in the Lord and, I know, He will give you more strength.

God sent Christ to die for us and if we only ask, He will be with us for life. Jesus Christ is the only hope for this broken world. There is nothing else worth living for than to see Him glorified and His name lifted high in all the Earth.

I hope and pray that these words will bring hope to your heart.”

Selah

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)

What does it mean to you, to trust God for your future? How can God use you to bring hope to others?

Passing the Baton:

As you trust in Him, be filled with joy and peace and overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus! My hope comes from you; truly you are my rock and my salvation. Thank you for the power of your Holy Spirit to fill my heart with joy and peace as I trust in you. Thank you for helping me and strengthening me when I am weak. You are not only my friend who helps me, but you are my only hope. Amen.
