Running From The Heart

DAY 3 OF 31

Rebecca’s Heart Cry

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. (Genesis 50:20)

In a divine moment, God led Rebecca to this verse that became the cry of her heart and she lived the rest of her days for the “saving of many lives.”

Rebecca’s heart was broken when her brother, Alex, went home to Heaven at just seventeen years old. It was through this overwhelming suffering that she began to understand the depth of the suffering of God’s heart when His son Jesus was dying on the cross for her sins, and the sins of the whole world. How could a loving God allow such suffering? As she mourned her brother, she agonized over this question as she wrote,

“God’s love for them in Jesus Christ. God sometimes allows us to go through great suffering for an even greater eternal purpose…

My job is to bring heaven to earth through my prayers and my obedience…

My life must be living in response to what my father is doing, not as a reaction against the darkness…”

Rebecca had always had a heart for the “Lost,” but after Alex went home, she humbly laid her life down, her heart now consumed at the very thought of a young person dying before ever knowing of her prayers were answered when God opened the door for her to become the USA Director for Alpha Youth (Alpha is a course to introduce people to Jesus Christ).

Selah

For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Suffering is a mystery! Sometimes grief and tears are all we have as we embrace the pain. Allow God to hold you at this time and he will bring healing to your heart. God is close to the broken-hearted.

Passing the Baton:

Do you declare to love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul, to make him Lord of your time, investing your days wisely for Kingdom work?

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, please use my grief for your glory. May what the devil intended for evil be used in a mighty way for good. May you turn this dark night into a bright new day. Amen.
