Do you need to hear from God today?
Do you ever feel like you're walking through life in a thick fog? It can be caused by many things––illness, bills, work stress or family pressure. When this happens, I usually start praying … but I've realized that sometimes I get so busy talking AT God, that I don’t take time to listen TO God. I end up being like one of the first followers of Jesus named Peter, who once got so busy talking at Jesus, that a thick fog surrounded him, and God Himself interrupted Peter “while he was still speaking”. It’s the only time in scripture when God cuts someone off mid-sentence and tells them to be quiet because He has something important to say.
I wonder how often God has tried to say something important to you … but you were too preoccupied with your own words, your own worries, your own stories, your own concerns to listen?
Maybe God is trying to say something significant to you today, but He’s waiting for you to stop and listen. I’ve learned from my own experience that it’s not until you listen for God in your life, that you see God in your story. Or as pastor Erwin McManus puts it: “Life comes from hearing God’s voice, because when God speaks life happens”.
Today, I pray that God’s voice would be loud and undeniable in your life.

While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them — Matthew 17:5
