If Jesus was to ever ask you to get out of THIS boat and walk on THIS water with him, I bet you wouldn’t hesitate.
Let’s be honest, when the waters of our lives are as smooth and calm as they are in this photo I took on the Sunshine Coast of Australia, it's easy to take a step of faith, right? But when Jesus called Peter to step out of the safety of his boat, the story says there was a strong wind and high waves—so the experienced fisherman was scared. The water Peter stepped out onto was chaotic … but he stepped out anyway. But then his fear took over and he sank below the waves. We know Peter lost faith, but he did not lose faith in Jesus—he lost faith in himself, and what he was capable of when he walked with Jesus.
I believe that today, Jesus is calling you to do something that seems impossible—change careers, end a relationship, go on a mission trip, or step out in some way. Jesus believes you can do it … but do you?
What could you achieve today if you refused to doubt, and simply believed what Jesus said—that with him, all things are possible?
For reflection:
"With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." — Matthew 19:26
