DAY 8 OF 30

Do you know what it means to be made in God’s image?

We live in a world of selfies, right? Most of us post images of ourselves on social media. We all want a nice profile pic. We all care to some degree about our image. Jesus talked about image once, when he was asked if the Jews should pay taxes to Caesar. Jesus answered that because Caesar’s image was on the coins they used for taxes, they should “… give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and give to God what is God’s”. Now, I’ve heard a lot of pastors preach messages about how Jesus was implying we should all pay taxes and give to the church … but I think Jesus was saying much more than that.

You see, God created each of you reading these words in His image … and so, you belong to Him. So in this exchange, Jesus was saying that because we all bear God’s image, our lives should be spent showing the world what God’s kingdom is like. YOU need to give back to God what already belongs to God—YOU.

Author Christine Caine puts it this way; “We have been created for God and by God to transform the world around us.” This only happens when we realize whose we are and live according to this truth.

YOU belong to God today—no matter your past, your decisions, or your circumstance ... and regardless of what has happened to you, what you’ve done, where you live, how you look, or what is in your bank account. No matter how you feel today, YOU were made in the image of God.

Are you prepared to live by this truth today, and give every part of your life to God?

For reflection:

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. — Genesis 1:27
